Marilyn R. Sanders is a Neonatologist Pediatrician working at Conecticut Children’s. Here she tells us about Polyvagal Theory in her workplace. We are thrilled to have Marilyn joining the conference and bringing her experience of caring for the youngest in our society and their parents.

Event co-director Elmer Postle directed the documentary film ‘The Healing of Birth’ featuring Sobonfu Somé Jospeh Chilton Pearce among others.

The Healing of Birth

This is a film I made with my colleague Debby Takikawa, in Santa Barbara, California in 1999-2004. We both were studying and working in the field of pre and perinatal psychology which was evolving creatively especially in this part of the world. Our inspirations included Ray Castellino, Sobonfu Somé, David Chamberlain, Joseph Chilton Pearce and others.

Ray Castellino, whose remarkable work with babies is featured in the film, said that simply considering infants had consciousness at the time of birth had enormous implications for how we approached our own history and the babies in our care. The film attempts to reflect that enquiry.
